How important is a energielabel for house seekers?

A good energy label is becoming more important for house seekers, because of the consequences of the energy crisis. But how does a seller get a higher energy label? Verra Real Estate gives you tips!

A study by Funda visitors, performed in March 2022, has proven that two third of the house seekers have come to find an energy label more important because of the increase of energy prices. An unfavorable energy label deters house seekers. However, the study also shows that an energy label is less important for a 1930s home (Funda, 2022)

How do I get a higher energy label?.

As a buyer, should you or shouldn’t you invest in a better energy label? The energy label shows how sustainable a house is, and what you can do to make it more comfortable and energy efficient. If you want to make your home more efficient, then the first step would be to isolate the house. A favorable energy label makes your house worth more and rewards with a faster selling time!

Roof isolation

If you want to make sure that you make a difference in the efficiency of your home, you can also isolate the roof or the floor. By isolating the roof you’ll save the most energy.  After all, heat rises and disappears through the roof.

Facade isolation

Often the best first step with a house from the 1960s is re-isolate the facade. By installing isolation in cavity walls, you isolate your house in a more cost effective way.

Glass isolation

Glass isolation, on the other hand, is quite expensive. Nowadays  HR++ glass is the new standard. This is double glazing with gas in between, making the window even better isolated.
